The Governor of the Krasnodar Region met with Emir Özbay, the newly appointed Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Krasnodar.
The event was also attended by Deputy Governor Alexander Ruppel, Head of the Department of Business Development and Foreign Economic Activity of the Krasnodar Region Vasily Vorobiov, and a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Krasnodar, Olga Shalimova.
«The Krasnodar Region and Turkey have maintained a long‑standing partnership that we are eager to expand. Today, economic ties are coming to the fore as a vital driver of any region’s development. We can increase our trade turnover, which currently stands at approximately 2 billion US dollars per year. However, any cooperation must be mutually beneficial. As a leading agricultural region, we are ready to increase supplies of a wide range of products, including grain, seeds, tinned goods, sugar, and wine, which is renowned throughout the country and a source of particular pride for us. The launch of new joint production ventures can also create additional business opportunities,» said Veniamin Kondratyev.
The governor explained that the Krasnodar Region had become Russia’s fifth-largest economy. In 2025, it attracted a record 1.2 trillion roubles in investment due to its status as an attractive and lucrative business environment.
«The Russian Federation is a valuable and reliable partner. We are prepared to collaborate to establish economic and trade relations across all sectors, with a focus on construction, agriculture, and tourism, which are the key industries in your region,» said Emir Özbay.
The Republic of Turkey remains one of the Krasnodar Region’s key foreign trade partners. The two parties have been developing their international cooperation for the past ten years. In 2016, a Turkish investment company partnered to launch a glass bottle manufacturing plant in the Krymsky District, while the Krasnodar Region has been supplying Turkey with winter wheat and barley seeds.
