Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree establishing in the
first quarter of 2017 a subsistence minimum per capita of 9,909 rubles, the
corresponding document was published on the official portal of legal
information.
"Set the subsistence minimum for the whole of the Russian Federation for
the first quarter of 2017 per capita 9909 rubles, for the able-bodied
population - 10 701 rubles, pensioners - 8178 rubles, children - 9756
rubles," the text of the document says.
Earlier it was reported that Medvedev reduced in the IV quarter of 2016 the
subsistence minimum per capita to 9,691 rubles.
The size of the subsistence minimum is determined by the government to assess
the living standards of the population in the country. Its value is used in the
development and implementation of federal social programs, to establish a
minimum wage (SMIC), the size of scholarships, allowances and other social
benefits, as well as for the formation of the federal budget.
