Rosstandart in April will begin to check gasoline and diesel fuel at the gas station using an express test, which takes several minutes.
This will allow sending only suspicious samples for long-term and expensive laboratory analysis and, as a result, reduce the expenses for fuel quality control six to eight times, increase coverage of inspections and shorten their terms, and reduce administrative pressure on honest business.

The express analyzer, developed at the VNIIR subordinate institute, can determine the octane and cetane numbers of fuel, as well as the mass fraction of sulfur, the concentration of iron, manganese and lead, within a few minutes to an accuracy of 95%.

In the test mode, the application of rapid tests will begin in April in the Volga, Siberian and Central Federal Districts. In all regions, the system is planned to be implemented by the end of the year, when necessary changes will be made to regulatory acts.

In the future Rosstandart expects to get the right to close the gas station only on the basis of the results of the rapid test.
