Medvedev supported the idea of raising taxes on foreign cinema

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in August, said he supported the idea of increasing the VAT on foreign films.
He stated this at the National Youth Forum "Tauris," which takes place in Crimea.
"There is an idea lies in the fact to apply VAT on foreign films, which are shown in the Russian cinema network, and in the case of our films - do not apply," - said Medvedev.
The Prime Minister said that the need to modify the project so as not to hurt small cinemas.
According to him, such measures would raise more money for the development of national cinema. He added that once again talks with the Minister of Culture and Minister of Economic Development, to take a decision on the matter, according to Tass.
