Media: the European Union will extend sanctions against Russia until 2016

The American edition of June 3 reported on the plans of the European Union to extend sanctions against Russia until January 2016.

According to journalists, the EU plans to adopt a decision to extend the restrictions during the summit on June 25-26. According to officials, the members of the European community will have enough time to assess the implementation by Russia of the Minsk agreements.

Sectoral EU sanctions imposed against Russia over the conflict in Ukraine, valid until the end of June. European officials suggest that the restrictions and "black lists" of citizens who are denied entry to the EU will be extended until the end of January 2016.

"In Brussels there is a growing belief that the community is United on the approach, which does not mitigate the pressure on Russia as long as Moscow does not fully perform its obligations relating to the Minsk agreements," writes The Wall Street Journal.
