On May 23, Google
Corporation officially launched a contactless service in Russia to pay for
purchases using an Android Payphone smartphone.
The payment system requires the support of NFC technology in the phone and the
operating system Android 4.4 and above. The user needs to tie his bank card
once to the application, after which he can pay for the purchases by attaching
the smartphone to the payment terminal supporting NFC.
In Russia, Android Pay supports Visa and Mastercard and at the time of launch
the payment system works with the cards of 14 Russian issuers: Ak Bars, Alfa
Bank, Binban, VTB24, MTS Bank, Bank Otkritie, Promsvyazbank, Raiffeisenbank,
Roketbank, Russky Standart Bank, Rosselkhozbank, Sberbank, Tinkoff Bank,
Tochka, Yandex.Money.
The system is based on the basis of the payment service Google Wallet, which
was introduced in 2011. Later, the development was renamed Android Pay, its
announcement took place in 2015, an online publication on the science of N + 1.
As the Internet portal "Kuban 24" wrote, in addition to Android Pay,
payment systems Apple Pay and Samsung Pay also operate in Russia.
