Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import of live birds and eggs from the United States

The Rosselkhoznadzor may 26th-imposed restrictions on imports of live poultry and hatching eggs from the United States. This decision was taken due to the spread on the territory of States of highly pathogenic avian influenza. On the territory of 17 States from California to Tennessee there were more than 150 foci of the disease. The restrictions will not apply to SPF-eggs — free from pathogenic flora eggs. "Special attention is the fact that the disease is registered not only in the population of wild birds, but is rapidly spreading among poultry. The total number of affected poultry 40.7 million and continues to grow", — explained in the message of the Rosselkhoznadzor. Also the subtype H5N1 is pathogenic for humans, which greatly exacerbated the situation with its spread, reports the press service of the Ministry.
