The minimum
retail price (MRP) on champagne at a rate of 164 rubles per 0.75 liter
introduced in Russia from July 25.
Ministry of Finance Decree on establishing the price is not lower than that
carried out the purchase, except for imports, supplies, other than export, and
retail sale of sparkling wine (champagne) was published on the official website
of legal information May 25 and entered into force two months.
The minimum selling price by the manufacturer is 115 rubles per bottle for
wholesale purchases - 133 rubles, and for retail sale - 164 rubles. In
addition, the mechanism of minimum retail price for vodka now operates in
Russia, which was introduced to deal with a cheap counterfeit alcohol market.
Fighting wine drinks
The press service of "Abrau-Durso", one of the largest Russian
producers of sparkling wines, pointed out that the introduction of IRC
champagne is another step to formation of a civilized market.
"However, manufacturers are dubious in quality sparkling wines and learned
to circumvent it, they produce" wine drinks ", for which these
initiatives do not work", - added in the company. Therefore, the
manufacturer continues, the next step to deal with wine beverages should be an
increase in excise duty on them.
In turn, head of the Center for Federal and Regional Alcohol Market Studies
(TSIFRRA) Vadim Drobiz believes that the MRC champagne will be separated with
the help of the price actually sparkling wine from the wine beverages.
"Manufacturers of champagne itself called for this measure to production
volumes are, of course, prosyadut, and marginally and can win." - Said the
expert.
"Once the minimum price per bottle will be 164 rubles, I do not rule out
that the production of champagne can be reduced by 10-15 million liters and
grow as the production of sparkling wine products" - added Drobiz.
According to him, in 2015 in Russia it was produced about 16.1 million
decaliters of champagne and sparkling wines, as well as at least 7 million
decaliters of wine carbonated drinks.
The price for consumers seriously affect
The head of the Association of producers of sparkling wines Alan Sokolov
indicates that MRC champagne set on an objective level. "The minimum price,
which is set, more or less reflect the real picture and even a bit lower - the
difference is 5 rubles from what is really going on" - he says.
Sokolov also expressed confidence that the number of champagne consumers will
not change significantly. "Champagne - a celebratory drink, the customer
will not give up on his champagne celebratory table If the daily consumption of
people stop at a cheaper product, a holiday many want to treat yourself to a
champagne and buy more expensive products.", - Said the head of the
association.
